This fellow was kind enough to offer me front and side views, close up, so I couldn't resist posting this two-for-one comp. From a blind on Machias Seal Island last week.

I know this guy and his impostor. What's the reward? Terrific Bill, you did a fine job considering light and cramped quarters in the blind. Beautiful BG as well.

Great! You have to smile when you see a puffin, it's the rule. Nice and sharp, well exposed. Good choice of F stop on the left to keep everything in focus. I like your choice of BG, the green really adds something. This is really enjoyable.

Like your creative presentation, Bill! Did he get busted by the HA police? Amazing faces on these guys, love the close-up details, color, and great IQ. Well done!

Excellent detail and colours from both angles. I would maybe add a touch of contrast to both.

Creative presentation, Bill. Love them both. You handled the challenges of Machias Seal Island well.

Clever. And best of all, you avoided the dreaded sun at that location :)

Thank you all for looking. Glad it brought a smile. (As Carole said so well, You have to smile when you see a Puffin; it's the rule.)

Thanks Artie. When I heard that we had been assigned a mid-day landing slot, I feared that the day would be a waste. These images were taken right at high noon, and the sun was very bright during much of our hour in the blind. But for at least some of the time, high clouds softened it somewhat. Plus a little s/h, dodging and burning. Thanks for looking.
