    Default Oystercatcher Family

This Image is taken on June 4, 2011 at 3.54pm at Nickerson.

Light was harsh and we were shooting a family of Oystercatcher when suddenly a group of people passed from very close to where this family was resting...In not time the parent took the young and marched towards a safer place...I quickly took few shots as the cautious parent and chicks were walking away..

    C&C welcome.

In PP adjusted exposure, added some contrast and sharpness and removed Noise.

    Hey Sachin,
Light wasn't ideal but you handled it very well and given that this was a nickerson....the BG turned out very nicely too! My only wish is for a bit more seperation of the rear chick....even if it fell OOF. I don't know how you feel about manipulation.....but if so inclined, you could digitally erase that rear bird and the image would be stronger IMO. If it is against your ethics....then a return trip is in order! Let's see what others chime in.

Thanks Roman...I understand what you said and felt I should have had set higher f stop to have both chicks in focus...but everything happened so instantly that I could not get things right.

Yes Return trip is in order for sure to capture young terns and skimmers along with Oystercatchers

    Thanks again.

Sachin, lots of things to like here...the exp., shooting angle, poses. What I also like a lot is the habitat.

For my tastes, I find the image a little undercooked. Some selective sharpening and darkening of the dark areas can improve it a lot. Here's a repost with some real quick work. Let me know if you feel its better. With more time spent, this can be optimized more.

    Wow!!

Repost looks very nice...I need to spend some time on PP to do justice to what I capture.

    Thanks a lot Kaustubh.
