Caught this little guy running thru the dunes of the beach throughout the vegetation. He seemed to want to play hide and seek. I got real low to the sand and fired away. The sun was facing me but I did the best I could.

Cheryl, that is adorable!! I really like the grasses as it gives us a good idea of his environment. My suggestion would be to crop from the top to just under the dark green band as I feel that this would better balance the composition.

    Hi,

A very cute guy, and I agree with Nicki about the grasses adding to the feel of the image, and about cropping at the top. Nice low angle, sharp and well exposed bird.

Cute as a button! Love how you placed the chick in the frame. I am OK with the grasses at the top. Gail

That's a bit comical and totally lovely!

I'm on an uncalibrated monitor, but I think a little more contrast/black clipping would do this good.

Cute little guy, I also like how the grasses add to the image and definitely would crop from the top in fact I would turn it into a pano if it were mine.

" I can see you " A well thought out comp Cheryl, and it works for me. I dont find the surrounding grasses distracting, as the little guy is in the open. I do agree to take a bit off the top, but maybe not as much as a pano.

I'm along with the crowed on the comp

Good job getting most all of the chick unobstructed by grass.

Cute chick Cheryl! I like the composition, might consider sharpening the chick more and poping the contrast a bit.

I swear I already posted this reply but I don't see it soo. I like the suggestions mentioned and agree with the cropping but didn't want to cut off the tops of the reeds of grass so... I went halfway and then applied a clone of the sand on a low opacity. WDYT?

    Hi Cheryl:

Pretty sure this little guy would be a Wilson's Plover chick if you captured it at FD. These little gues are not easy to photograph and you did well depicting him in his element.
