Because I don't have a really long lens I have learned to be patient and let the bird come to me! I was on my belly in the sand (covered by a camouflage sheet) for 2 hours waiting for this little guy to bless me with a good shot! it was worth it!
    I hope you like it.
Comments and critiques always welcomed and appreciated,

Like the POV, low angle, and comp on this one, Gail. The worm dangling from the mouth really adds interest. Good seperation and contrast so you can see worm clearly. In a perfect world it would great if the dark vegitation behind the bird wasn't there, but still nicely done, and way to be patient, observe, suffer and get the shot!

I love these little guys. Wonderful on-the-belly angle, and great pose. Patience well rewarded. Everyone's ethic is a bit different, but I might be tempted to remove the dark vegetation on the right.

Hey Gail, if the little guy kept walking as he was, he would have bumped his head on the end of your lens. Excellent perspective, and love the raised foot. The worm certainly does add a lot to the image. Waiting for him to edge a little closer, he would have cleared himself of the distant foliage.

The worm makes the difference for me.

As far as the kelp in the background is concerned I don't find it distracting. A moment later and the separation of bird and BG could have been better, but what would have happened to the worm in the meantime?

Not too many Piping Plovers on our beaches this year .........

Love the great low angle and the vegetation adds to the environment feel. I like the raised foot as well.
