Beautiful breeding plumage on this one! Love the colors of the BG and perch. Exposure looks spot-on. If mine I'd eliminate the little specular highlight on the bill (possibly some mud too?), the bit of OOF vegetation to the bottom left of the mound and the two little blades of grass/moss popping up from the legs. Great shot! Cheers!

    Hi alan,

Excellent shot of this beauty out in the open. The perch is great and the pose is nice as well. I would be tempted to see how this would look without the OOF thingy on in the lower left corner. Excellent shot as usual

Quality is superb as always and i really like the setting but have to agree the OOF foliage in the lower left corner is somewhat distracting.

    greetings,

Over-the-top IQ, as we've come to expect, Alan. Wonderful diffuse light, perfect pose on this beautiful breeding plumage Dunlin! The OOF vegetation at the LRC looks fine and perfectly natural. The BG seems too uniform and flat to me - I wonder what was the actual BG and how far away was it? But big congrats on an overall superb image!

Interesting perch Alan, an anthill with lichen Super show off pose from the Dunlin, sharp, and just love that BG.

Hey Keith, the BG is artic tundra and probably 50 yards away.

Thanks for the info, Alan, that explains the uniform BG. Here in midcoast Maine our southbound Dunlin start arriving in late September, but of course they have lost their breeding colors and look fairly drab especially in contrast to your gorgeous bird.

IQ is what I aspire to! I think I will just have a print-out form for your pics that says "beautiful light, tack sharp, gorgeous BG and as always the amazing perch".

beautiful result. Love the perch, composition, pose. Good ps work. The bird color temp is a pinch cooler than the rest of the shot but I think that keeps it from looking too yellow overall so I think it's good.
