In going with the July theme I'm posting this chick from last week. It was near noon pretty much at the end of the shoot.
It was fun to watch him try to get it down... and he did.

Nice low angle shot. I would boost the vibrance a bit.

Cheryl, good angle on the chick, and I like how we can see the eye of the fish. Im fine with the shells, but would maybe take a touch off the top.

Really cool Cheryl. The bird looks super cute

The placement of bird seems a little out of ordinary(or maybe it's just the kooky pose) but I really dig it!

Good dof and subject pose. A little bit of fill would have illuminated the underside of the shiny fish.

I agree with Alan regarding increasing the vibrance.

I like the placement and the shells. (Beaches have shells...). I don't know why, but the curve of the needlefish lends this image a pleasing comical tone. Great pic!

p.s. was this taken near N.P. Richey?

Such a cool image Cheryl. Looks like this little guy is on a victory lap, showing off his trophy!
I'm especially enjoying the comp, the DOF and the eye contact from both the predator and the prey. Well done!

Wow ! What a fish to catch !! Just perfect as far the compo goes . Might be tempted to see this with some saturation / vibrance upped .

    Cheryl,

I visit Clearwater often in order to help out a relative. I generally don't have much time for pics, but do get out for a few hours after dawn each morning. Do you have any suggestions of spots not too far from Clearwater. I have had some luck at Howard Beach, Chestnut park, and Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary. Don't really have time to get down to Ft DeSoto this time.

    All advice is welcome.

    Thanks.

    Mitch
