    Default Lotus effect!

Nancy and Paul's posting earlier in the week reminded me of an image I took last year in December while visiting the Grand Palace in Bangkok, Thailand. As I was walking around I saw the reflection of the temples and pagodas in water drops on lotus pads. I spent some time composing few images and this one I liked the most. I have few other ones which I will post over time. I used Canon G11 in Macro mode with 1/80 sec @f4. For processing, I cropped and cleaned some bubbles in the drop and then adjusted the exposure, saturation, selective colors and also applied curves for increased contrast. Hope you like it...

Indranil, this is very interesting. I love the golds in the image. Maybe a tiny bit more on the bottom so the leaf tip isn't cut off?

Thanks Cheryl. I should have taken care of that while cropping... here is the repost...

Indranil, I like the way the gold of the palace complements green of the lotus pad. The added canvas on the bottom was a good suggestion.

    Indranil,

Greetings. Cool drop reflection. Wish the leaf were more in focus... tried Topaz Infocus (to the maximum w/ the temple mostly masked)...

Just a thought... Infocus would produce better results on a larger base image... or successive smaller adjustments with Infocus rather than just cranking the settings.

    Cheers,

Interesting capture & comp, Indranil, and good eye to see that. Really like the detail you can see of the palace in the reflection The added canvas at bottom looks good, and Michael makes a good point about trying to increase sharpness of leaf.

Hi Michael, Thanks a lot. Good point. I did try with smaller aperture but the leaf was not very clean and overpowering. Infocus is good option. I will try it on the larger base image. Thanks for posting the revised version.
