Canon 7D Canon 500mm f4 L IS ISO 400 +0.67 1/640 sec f8 taken from the car but I didn't have the bean bag with me!
This is another shot taken soon before the previous one. I have taken on board the tips passed on by Steve. I intend to return to the location to try to optimise lighting and direction and of course shutter speed.
    All C & C welcome.

Very nice, Jonathan! I don't think I've seen a hare like this before - great looking pose and eye. Seems large compared to ones out here in So. Cal, about how big are they?

    Brendan here you go:

Recognition: Very long black-tipped ears; large powerful hind legs. Much redder than the mountain hare, and with a black-topped tail
    Head/body length: 520-595mm; tail: 85-120mm
    Weight: Average 3-4kg
Lifespan: Adult hares normally live to 3 or 4 years but very rarely can they live much longer.
Diet: Tender grass shoots, including cereal crops, are their main foods.

Definitely bigger than hares out here. With those giant hind legs, they almost look like mini-kangaroos!
