    Nest refurbishing and breeding is in full swing at this heronry close to my home.

    cropped slightly left and top.
    Hand held.

    Nice nest building behaviour. Good pose, and sharp. I wouldn't mind more room above (and a bit left and right to retain aspect ratio), and I'm sure you can coax out a little more detail under the wing. Being close to your home I hope you'll take advantage of the opportunities!!

    Lovely pose, light and nesting material, Arno. Another vote for more room above and coaxing details from the whites. TFS.

    Nice one Arno...our local herons are also plentiful now that all the Cattle Egrets have gone .
    I agree on recovering more detail from the white underwings.

    What a wonderful looking bird....whites are partly blown out and agree with Daniel about having little more space.

    Hi Arno, I like how the nesting material follows the outline of the heron. Overall sharp, and good to have these guys close to your house.

    Daniel,thank you for your comments and suggestions.I have finally re-composed the image and extracted some more detail from the underwing.
