    Default African Jacana (juvenile)

An image captured over the side of a small boat on the Okavango Delta, Botswana. First light from behind my position.

This is a juvenile African Jacana, and I was fortunate to be able to photograph them from close by as they walk among the lily pads and lilies in search of their breakfast. Opportunities like these are plenty on the safaris I am hosting with Orient Express Botswana.

Great light and low angle. Love the foot coming out of the water.

Love the back foot and the lily pads!

Wish for a bit of a head turn toward viewer and might tone down the brightest area (lower right) of the OOF flower in the BG.

Sweet light Mork, and the walking pose shows off their large feet and toes nicely. Shooting from a boat seems to be the way to go.

Awesome light, and I love the walking pose...especially the lifting rear foot. Great low angle and IO love the bit of leg reflection. I agree with the HA concern, and I wish for a looser comp to include the full flower.

    Thanks for your comments, folks!
This was a tricky one...I can include some more space on RHS but that would bring an OOF flower in the FG into play, one which is much more distracting than the one in the BG. I already toned down highlights on the flower a lot, the rising sun was falling full on the scene. Will see what I can do...

Great soft light, low angle and raised foot. Do find comp a bit tight though but still a great shot.
