You know how I feel about this Brendon...

Awesome impact, zooming in close was exactly the right thing to do here IMHO, and that trickle of blood is so chock full of impact without being overly gory for sensitive viewers (which I am not ).

Processing wise I notice some halos around the whiskers, but will have to check at home again. Whiskers are always tricky and I tend to exclude them from my selections for sharpening.

Brendon - huge impact image. The blood just really adds to it.

Morkel I think hits the spot with the observations here Bredon. Might come in on the right to just before the whiskers to reduce some of the black area. BTW, have you bumped up the red on the blood?

Tight comp and strong shadows add to the drama of the kill. Nicely done.

Thanks all for the great comments. Morkel yes i noticed the halos around the whiskers too, have corrected that on the original. Steve havent bumped up the reds alone, just some global saturation and vibrance

Cheryl, the colour difference is because she is blind in one eye, i will post an image of her tomorrow where you can see it clearly

Long shot Bredon, but it's not Beauty that frequents the Kwetsani/Jao area?

If the blood was a sat/vibrance adj layer, any change of turning it off and reposting?

Hey Steve, No its Safari, probably the oldest leopard in the sabi sand Game reserve, she still going strong at the ripe age of 19 Unfortunately it wasnt and adj layer, i could selectively desaturate the blood slightly to as close a possible to how it came out of camera?

I see no problem with the colour of the blood - no need to repost IMO. It is such an important element in this image so it should stand out even if it is slightly intense in colour.(which for me looks fine).

I find no problem with color of the blood, agree with Ofer.
I like a shot like this so much much more than a "mug shot". No matter how well the mug shot is lit, or how sharp it is.

Agree, no need to repost, the vibrancy of the blood makes the impact IMHO.
