    Nice details and BG. The light looks a bit harsh and a bit more head turn toward you would have been nice.

    Very nice composition Simon and good eye contact and excellent detail in the brown feathers. I agree with Axel that the light appears a little harsh which makes it more difficult to get detail in the whites. Thanks for sharing.

    Did well with the light Simon !!!! I like the pose and bg Nice feel to the image Do remember those guys from my West Coast trip and they are enormous !!!!

    Whoa, that is some honking bill. (Alfred, this bird is on the west coast of Australia! We photographed Western Gull in CA (not Pacific Gull as seen here). Good job with the critiques above. Basic COMP is good.

    Thank you all for your comments. I should have been a bit more informative about the bird: Pacific Gulls are endemic to the southern coast of Australia. The name is a slight misnomer as most of their range fronts the Southern and Indian Oceans.
