    Very good eye contact, sharp were it counts - I like the image a lot. Maybe it would be possible to crop a bit more at the bottom since I don't think the green stuff adds much to the image. The shadow over the back could possibly have been improved using fill flash.

    Ian, I like the looks of avocets, pretty bird, yours is nice and sharp and the shadow does not bother me, but the left wing (?) does.

    Excellent image ! I like the light on the head and the eye contact. Very nice.

    Good detail and eye contact. Difficult light angle with heavy shadows. On my monitor the bg appears a bit noisy.

    Hi Ian, I have to agree with comments above regarding the pose and the shadow. The wing behind the neck really makes this image awkward to my eye and the mixed light makes for a very contrasty image. 1/2500 sec might have worked better for the exposure.
