    Hi Everyone.
This is my first post here on BPN so I picked my very favorite of mine to share with you all.
This image was shot in 2009 at a nearby rookerey. It was also my very first and most exciting publication.

    Cheryl:

A big welcome to BPN. A very attractive image to start with!

Elegant presentation for a beautiful bird. The plumes are excellent. Nice breeding colors in the lores.

The background shows him off well.

I might consider very slightly lightening the face

Look forward to more. This is a great place to learn and grow as a nature photographer

    Cheers

The plumes against the dark BG really make this one work, Cheryl. I really like the subtle effect of the nest here, and how you can just make out the bird's legs.

Congratulations on your first post and looking forward to seeing more!!

Welcome to BPN Cheryl!! Awesome first post...the white-on-black looks great. Nice composition, and of course the breeding plumage/colours are the icing on the cake. You sound excited about this...so I gotta ask...where was it published?

    Looking forward to more!

Welcome to BPN. Am sure you will like it here. You have started with a bang. Loved the tight framing and of course the plumes and pose. Nest isnt too overpowering and good shooting angle. Well done.

Thanks Randy for the suggestion and Daniel, the publication started with a first place win in Popular Photography Oct. of 2009 and also was that month's cover, subscriber edition. Pretty exciting for me.

Wonderful image Cheryl and welcome to BPN. I have family in New Port Richey and have and have Photograph at that rockery but did not get anything quite as nice as this.

Cheryl, I recognize that photo from your business card. (We met at Fort Desoto back in March.)

This is truly a lovely image. The white plumes against the dark background make it for me. And great job with the exposure of the whites.

speechlessly beautiful background! I know its extremely difficult to find such a spot with clear nest, and you catch the perfect moment. Congrat!

Hi Don, thanks for the compliment. Yeah that used to be a great place to shoot with awesome photo ops but the guy that manages the center there is trying to ban photographers, I'm dissapointed.
