    Default not on speaking terms...

I know that overlapping birds is usually a no-no - I just can't let go of this one. The fact that the bird in the back has the same foot positions and just looks the other way appeals to me. Wonder what you all think.

The out of focus bird in the background would be a NO NO...BUT...:) If it tells a story, in which it does in your case its fine... I like the story it tells...:D

    Congrats...:D:D

Hi Dieter I am a fan of these type images They appeal to me I would like to see similar poses on both birds For me the second bird having the same head position would have made a stronger image !!! Still like this a lot !!!

I like the idea, angle and details and only wish for a bit more separation between the birds.

I too like the idea in this capture but agree about the OOF bird looking the same way. Thanks for sharing.

Dieter, the proximity of these Curlew make this image work for me. You've managed a shot that's almost symmetrical but not in the usual way. I like it.

As above, but the image looks over-saturated and the head of the front bird looks over-sharpened. Both of these are common mistakes...

interesting to see how the 400mm pulled the back bird forward.......nice low angle, may be a bit saturated imo

Pulled back the saturation and applied only about half as much sharpening as on the original post. Better now?

Much less garish now but still lots of unavoidable problems: the foregrond rocks , esp. the o-o-f ones that are cut in half--always try for a clean lower edge... And, the whbite shell (?) on the right is quite distracting. But I do like the fact that they are not talking to each other. later and love, artie
