    Default Hello from Coquitlam,BC, Canada

    Hello everyone,
I'm fairly new to birding. I generally shoot first and ask questions later ( Like -whats that bird) .I've been into photography generally for a long time( since before digital). I'm on my third DSLR and am currently using a Canon 7D along with a 24-105L and 100-400L. The 7D is new last month and I am looking for any and all advice to improve my skills as well as any tips and tricks specifically related to the 7D and birding. I shoot almost entirely handheld as I only have an el cheapo tripod.
I shoot mostly in Coastal regions of BC around metro Vancouver but ocassionaly in the interior as well on Mexican vacations.

Welcome Robert. It looks like we are neighbours. I have been using the 7D for birding and wildlife since Jan 2010 so feel free to send me a private message and let me know if you have any specific questions. I'd be more than happy to share some advice with you.

Enjoy the sunshine and see you in the field one day.

    Jamie

By the way, I found Artie's 7D user guide useful https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=285. I like to work backwards when it comes to learning sometimes. See what others are doing first and then find my own way.

Welcome to BPN Robert! I've also had the 7D for a couple of months now too and it is a great camera. Artie's guide the Jamie links to pretty much covers all the things you need to know about it when it comes to bird photography. Looking forward to your participation!

    Robert:

Welcome to BPN. You will find a wealth of general bird photography information here, and lots of inspiring 7D pictures as well.

    Look forward to your posts.

    Cheers
