    Taken earlier this year at the WTP and tried getting close to this species but they were not too camera friendly. This is about the best I came back with.

    Canon 5D 600mm f4 L (non IS) + 1.4 TC iso 800 1/1250th f8.0 CW metering at +0 tripod mounted
    Photoshop-slight sharpen of features, blur tool used as NR on BG

    Excellent shot Paul! Having the feet sharp could have been even better but still lovely.

    A beautiful, serene look at the bird stepping out.

    Beautiful, Paul! A fine work of art! I love the FG and BG! I am surprised at the resemblance of this species in this plumage to Dunlin! A real beauty!

    Good low angle, and I like the walking pose with the raised foot. I also like the soft pastel blues of the water. As the Sandpiper was parallel to you, the left foot should have just as sharp as the right foot with F/8.0. Did it perhaps catch some blurring.

    Nope, definitely didn't get blurred in PP. I find the focal plane when using the 5D/600mm/1.4TC combo to be absolutely miniscule (even at f9.0 - f11). Someone told me once that full frame cameras will have smaller DOF than crop factor models....anyone know if this is true?
