This image was from a series I took while visiting the Polish Concentration Camp -- Auschwitz....this is the last thing many people saw.

Anyone visiting this place comes out feeling saddened, I am glad I went but not sure I'd ever want to see it again

Why we remember our vet's from everywhere, enough said.

Took this series of images in color but converted to B & W, but left the lights red.

As to the story , it was something no one could ever imagine. Must have been an absolute horror to have been there. No sure I would even want to visit it now.
As for the image , love the composition and the leading lines formed by the tracks. I think a bit more contrast would help , I would consider adding a sepia tone as it would add to the "age " of the story being told by this powerful image.

Very nice image and application, Paul.

Very fitting for this week as well.

I know it is there, but also do not feel I need to see it to know the horrors of that time.

Paul, I don't think I could handle going there. I like the composition, I do wish I could read the text but I do understand that it would not be possible with the image size for posting. Nicely presented.

When I went I thought I knew how bad it was from movies, books and such.

When I was actually standing in the buildings, near the ovens, and saw the barbed wire...but the wall with all the names, really got to me. There were at least 5 rooms with small writing covering all the walls, I can't remember what the total number killed but it was in the millions.

I also thought that it was mainly Jewish people who died, but realized some Germans, Soviets, Italians, Poles, Hungarians and just about every nationality in Europe of which none were spared deaths.

Paul, Thank you so much for posting the larger version of the text. Very powerful and haunting.

Paul, nice posting for a terrible time. I have elderly neighbors who hail from Germany. The one neighbor when she was a little girl was held in one of the concentration camps. She does not talk about it.
