    Default Pondering...

Rarely do I get frustrated about getting/achieving a particular shot, but as a few of you know, a pride of cubs for four days gave me the run around until the last day where upon they gave me what I wanted IMHO. This is one of them, other images have already been posted a while back on here. I just wanted an image that possibly had other qualities within it. Perhaps I just am/got too close and this may not convey some of the points I wanted to illustrate, I'm not sure?

Nothing has been blurred it's all in camera, the only thing I have done is remove a green stem from the branch over the paw that was running under the left eye as you view it. Not a great lover of the OOF mound to the rhc, but sadly not even I can move that. That's nature for you, but to move position would have disturbed the pride.

I like this a lot! Very nice and intimate. I feel that an even tighter crop works nicely. Also removed the plant on the left which was a bit distracting IMHO.

Cheers Ofer, yep tighter can work too, perhaps gives even more focus to the face.

BTW meant to say, it's another cub to the left in the BG.

    cheers

Steve - Adorable. I prefer the OP as I don't love the right paw being clipped in the repost, but I wouldn't mind the plant being removed . Great sharpness even with the slow ss. Love this.

I like both...the focus for me remains on the eye. Great details and sharpness as usual Steve.
Pity about the mound but as you say, rather enjoy the sighting a bit longer than chase them up...

Great details and I prefer the op b/c it includes all of that paw but would ask for the branch to be removed. I like the mood of the image as it clearly represents that moment of rest after lots of activity and just before springing up for whatever's coming next.

Love this head over the paw soulful look youv'e captured so well here Steve, great detail on the face, very nice.
I also like the OP, and like Morkel, am hesitant to clone much but in this case may take out the small branch extreme left, I even like the grass strip that's nuzzling (it's) left paw & whiskers.

Great IQ as always and the pose is priceless. That little piece of grass just in front of the left paw and face does draw attention, but it is wild conditions after all (welcome to my world, seems like almost every time I take a image of something there is a piece of grass or twig protruding even when I try reposition) I prefer the original crop. Nice one Steve!

    Hi Steve,
I've seen this look on my dogs a few times while I'm sitting at the computer and they're waiting for their walk. Beautiful detail (as usual) and a very nice, rich color to this one. The distracting elements mentioned by others don't really stand out to me here because of how they mirror the angles of the cub.

Very nice image, Steve. Love the expression on the cub's face!

For a 14% crop it sure held up the detail extremely nicely for "only" a 10 MP image! (Who says you can't crop 1D Mk III images and maintain detail!!)

Looks like the 1D Mk III may have taken the lead back over the Mk IV as far as which camera I am going to purchase.
