A 1st Summer White-faced Ibis has been causing quite a stir locally with Birders and Bird photographers alike, this week.
This bird, as I was told, has never been seen in Ottawa, they generally are found in the western half of the USA, with stragglers getting as far north, as the Prairies in Canada.
Today I took out the long lens and tried to get a decent image.
The light was fairly even which brought out all the colors and details in this bird.
Thanks for looking...

Great record shot! We had one here in MA this spring but a one eyed peregrine (really) sat on it's head, drowned it and then consumed it...the whole thing caught on tape!
Looks to need a bit of CCW rotation? Also, a better HA and eye contact would have been nice, but at least you fot the record shot.
I'd also try and tone down the yellows / greens a little bit.
I assume you were concerned about having the whole bird in focus....but I might have opened up a bit to blur the background more...assuming you had time of course.
Nice one Paul of this local star. Nice to see it foraging in the "mighty" Carp River. I agree with most of Jim's critique (I'm OK with the greens a nd yellows as is). A great record image for sure.
Dan the crowds have been relatively light but now more people are realizing its a pretty rare bird and its busy in the mornings (5 - 10). Luckily you can't get to close and spook the Ibis because the Carp River gets in the way.
One unlucky lady found out the hard way. She shouldn't have gotten so close to the edge, she, her 7D and a new 300 2.8 went in the river face first, under water. Water wasn't that deep but she lost her footing. We helped her out and back to her car but camera, has to go back for service.
