    Against bullies like this Shelduck

    Avocet parents are fearless

Wish it was a bit sharper but at least captured the frantic moment as the duck got too close to the chick.Should have used ISO 400 but fed up with noise from my 40D

    ISO 200, 1/320, F 6.3 =F 9 1.4 TC on 100-400 eV 0

Great action. I too wish it was sharper. The Duck seems over saturated to me.

Nice action image, too bad about the Shelduck focus but the Avocet's head and eye, fairly sharp....thanks for sharing

Saturation, did add a bit too much I guess, though I am always taken aback by just how flamboyant the Shelducks are, will drop a little for my files.

Going back this week to see if the fight is still on as the chick being guarded has not yet fledged
thank you for your comments, and full marks to the Avocet for being a kick *** parent!
