One of the first flowers to show up after the thaw, is the beautiful Wooly Louisewort. This image was taken on one of the first days I arrived in Barrow. By the time I left a week later, the Tundra had many of these flowers with their pink petels showing up everywhere. I like how the how the texture and color of the flower matches the bird. This guy was singing his head off :-)
This was a set up, and in my next newsletter, I will show a picture of how we did it.
A beautiful image, Alan. The head angle and singing pose are perfect; background lovely; and the color palette is stunning. What a treat to see these guys in their breeding plumage.
OMG said my wife behind my back, it is fantastic. I fully agree with her. You don't stop amazing me. When I think it cannot get any better, it does.
By the way I can never open your pictures in your newsletter for some funny reason.
Alan,
This is superb. The vegetation and BG and singing pose are perfect. The exposure and feather detail just blow me away. You are the master of set-ups. Love it,
Gail
I agree on the environment around the bird. It really creates a superb setting. Love the detail, background and colours. The open beak adds as well. Superbly done!
Everything flows well in this image, Alan. As you said, the texture of the louisewort and that of the sandpiper complement each other. I don't know exactly how you set up the image, but whatever effort you put in paid off handsomely here.
