I got into slr photography after returning from a trip to alaska with a point & shoot camera....I purchased a canon rebel with a 70-300 mm sigma lens. I now have a canon 7d
and a 300 mm f4 lens. I would really like to have a bigger lens but finances will not allow...
I have really enjoyed the photos on this forum and the birds as art blog...

Yes, we pretty much all started with modest equipment. You should still be able to get good stuff from what you have. You've also joined the right place to pick-up some good tidbits to help you improve and learn the craft. Hope to see some images from you soon!
