    Default Summer Snow Portrait

My last post was of a plains animal so I thought I'd post a portrait from an alpine species I got a couple of weeks ago. Snow squalls were coming on and off throughout the day making for a nice variety of shooting conditions. It was funny to watch the patch of fur on the right side of his head flop over his face like a bad comb over everytime the wind would gust. Centered him on this vertical comp to include FG grass and the dark area above to better show off the snow. 7D, 1-400L, f6.3, 1/2000s, ISO 400, +.33 EC, HH.

Love the depth & detail as always Steve, especially in the mouth & muzzle. You can almost feel your hands disappearing into that thick shaggy fur coat.

Steve, some people would dream of having that amount to comb over.

Steve - love the Depth and detail as mentioned. The darker background does bring out the animal and the snow. Well done and TFS

Mountain goats always elude me Steve. 4 Trips to Mt.Evans and still dont have a single image. Hoping to make one like it some day.

You really get a sense of place here Steve, with the snow and the apparent wind. Nice exposure too.
Do you have any with the tuft blown over the animal's face?

Agree with all above comments here, darker BG also suits nicely Steve.

    Steve,

The subject, the snow, and the beautiful foreground bring everything together for a wonder image. Dan Walters better keep an eye on you. (Smile)

Thanks to all for the comments.

    Morkel,
Don't have any with the full tuft but here's one when the strand whipped across his face. I don't think he likes things on his face.
