    Default Grey Heron with Catch.

Picture was taken early in the morning, however light was bit harsh.

Canon EOS 550D, EF 55-250mm IS USM. Av mode, F: 7.1, SS: 1/400, ISO: 400, Spot metering, White balance: Auto. Exposure bias: 0.0. Hand held. C& C most welcome.

    Satish:

Heck of a catch for your bird!

Yes to the harsh light, and the light angle, well off to the right has made the lighting a challenge.

Is he standing on some sort of pipe? Good job cropping out as much of that element as you could, as it is a bit too much 'hand of man'

    Cheers

Yes, nice catch from the heron. I like the shadow's play with the head plume. Harsh light and its' angle hurt the image. A darker exposure and lots of flash would have perhaps helped here. Tough conditions in any case. Big crop?...fine detail seems to be compromised...

    Hey Satish,
Great advice above. With these birds....you have to be very careful of the light/white areas. Just something to keep in mind for in the field. I like that you are concentrating on the action....so just keep the angle in mind now.
