Default Stop, Look, and Listen - Pronghorns in the Mist

I think this one conveys a couple of senses. Captured along Water Canyon Road, east of Socorro, NM. This was actually one of those "kick yourself" moments, as I did not have the 400mm on the camera at the time. I was driving up to Water Canyon and was going to change lenses to shoot birds when I got there. I came upon this small herd of Pronghorn Antelope standing on the road. By the time I got the lens on the camera, they had all gotten under a fence on the other side of the road and were headed off into the distance. I started calling them and these five does stopped to see what was going on.

Topaz Detail, then Nik Graduated Fog, finally Topaz Adjust "Smooth and Flat".

I really like the image! You made it into a keeper with the effects including the fog. Creative thinking Kerry!

Wow! That's a great line-up Kerry. I think the smooth anf flat really softened the background nicely. I might tone down the image just slightly. Very creative filtering and I love the way you framed this!

Great story behind this, Kerry. The title is perfect for the image, and great job on processing this to give it more impact. I loved that they stopped when you called out to them, you may have a bit of Tarzan in you! Nice work!

You certainly got their attention! Love the framing and the colors along with the matching title. Very nice processing.

Quick work on your part to get this image! I like how the Pronghorns blend in with the colors of the surroundings, giving the image a unified look. I also like how they are sharp against the blurred surroundings. Was this done in camera or in post processing? I'm thinking they may stand out a little too much--doesn't look quite realistic. These 5 look so alert--just as your title says.

    Nice capture and image.

Two things about Pronghorns, their fast and curious! You got the second one very nicely.

Must have been some sexy "Pronghorn Whistle" Kerry to get all of them looking at you!! .

Anita, I posted the "standard" version of one from this series in wildlife about a year and a half ago. They seem to pop out from the background even in the unaltered version. Here is a link - http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php/54890-Hi-Girls!?highlight=pronghorn

I love the fact that all the Does are looking at you, it does not happen often. Like the pano crop, and it also shows the landscape these hardy animals live in.....looks hot, you can almost see the heat waves.
