I posted another image of this double crested cormorant a few weeks ago then left on a storm chasing trip. I am back and wanted to post this one. The grainy effect is something I personally like. I will post the original in Avian.
PB, super saturation, super contrast and over sharpening at .1 radius. I forgot what else I might have done. The color saturation is much different from the first post.

Hi Steve, I'm not normally a fan of grain, but when used as an abstraction like this I think it works well. It looks like a painting on rough sandstone. The colors work well together and I love the eye.

    Kerry,
I thought it looked like a sandstone painting also. Thanks.

Steve, I like the grain and think you did a great job with the overall look of this one. I might try to eliminate the halo around the bird if it were mine. The golden color really sets off that eye!

Denise, Thanks for the suggestion. Just returned from 7 days of sitting in the back of a bouncing van storm chasing and my back is very sore. I had started the treatment, now, I think it is finished.

That repost takes it over the top for me. That eye...a sure sign that a cormorant is in the image! Very nicely done and a very nice use of processing to introduce a whole new feel to the image.

Nice work Steve. I would love to do some storm chasing. I'll settle for climbing a mountain in the early morn!

Steve, nice effect..to me it looks like Egyptian Art..something you'd see on a wall in the pyramids.
God, what an imagination I have...lololol..
