    so this is full frame. should i try and crop somehow or just give up on the image?

    nikon d300, 300 f/2.8 + 1.7x. 1/1250 @ f/4.8, ISO 640.

    Nice capture, it's not bad as is, I'm not sure a different crop would help. Too bad the sun was not behind you.

    Nice lighting, you can try to make a high contrast black & white with it. You also can crop tighter by changing the aspect ratio and removing only some of the botom part of the picture.

    I like Dieter's crop alot.It really emphasizes the nice light on the owl's face. I appreciate the fine feather detail that you have captured in the face.

    I too like Dieter's crop as it really brings the face into a more prominent position in the frame. Lovely light on the face and eye contact in this image.

    I think the the crop below is a bit stronger than Dieter's while still emphasizing that fantastic and oh-so-sharp eye.
