Out of about 20 Black Crowned Night Herons on the beach, this one was the only individual who retained his breeding color pink feet. I ejected a piece of seaweed and slightly cropped, otherwise normal processing.

Thank you for looking at my image and for your comments.

    Grace:

I am very fond of dark backgrounds with the subject popping due to the illumination, and this one works very well for me. Sharp, great exposure and light quality, good comp, good use of negative space.

    Cheers

I really love this one. The low angle, great light, and lovely breeding plumage all add to a fine image.

    Well done!

Gorgeous light and love the almost "spotlighting" effect of the dark BG!
Add a nice pose, great comp, and excellent detail and you have a real winner with this one ... congrats!

Grace, you have nailed a great pose, and the low perspective works really well. Sweet light, warm colours, and well placed in the frame.

Superb image Grace. I love the OOF background colors as they accentuate the bird perfectly. The lighting is definitely sweet :)

I wonder why our New England BCNH always stay buried in the marsh and don't come out to the beach?
