    Default Crimson backed Tanager

These beautiful birds are found from Western Panama down to Western Colombia; not found in Costa Rica.
This was captured at breakfast time perched in a beautiful Bourganvillea.
They would visit regularly announcing arrival with a loud chirp.
The silver white lower mandible helps to distinguish from the Crimson Collared Tanager.

Oh my, this is a stunningly beautiful bird. So much so that I would love to see him against a much quieter background as this competes with him. The reds on his breast are lacking in detail and the perch, like the background, is busy. But I would sure love to have an image of this bird in my files!

    Hi Grace

    yep impressive arent they

Fortunately I have a few similar shots and probably overprocess somewhat.
The bird always appeared from the flowers, wonder if a strong blur would help neutralise BG a little?
As those who photo birds like this no too well the action is fast and most times theres a lot a shrubbery going on Still it was a priveledge to meet them
thanks for your input; I'll have another look at breast detail.

    Hey Richard,
Striking bird but does appear to be over processed a touch. I do think toning down the BG a touch and fixing the bird will go a long way in taking this up a notch. Very nice find!

The bird looks awesome. The BG, as nice as it is, competes with the bird IMO. Perhaps a BG blur would help.

Great looking bird and good detail too. Like the pose and eye. Subject is well exposed with good natural colours against a good bg. Well done !
