A beautiful capture Jonathan. Colorful bird on the sliky Green Background looks very attractive and pleasing to the eyes.

    Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely lovely. This ticks all the boxes: nice BG, nice perch, goos head angle and engaging subject. No nits from me!

Very nice! Excellent sharpness and detail. You did very well with the challenging light.

Lovely again Jonathan. My choice would be to crop a little off the left (and maybe balance that overall) to lessen the effect of the fork in the perch. Did you use a little flash on this one, or is there just a hint of real light in the UK now? Whether flash-induced or added (or artefact) I would think about removing the small sharp catchlight in the eye, keeping only the diffuse natural one.

As an aside, I've been hoping to attract these guys to my garden, and have had niger seed out for a long time with no luck. Do you have any extra tips?

Thanks for the C&C everyone, much appreciated, Geoff I did use a little fill in flash at -1.66 or -2.0, I did consider the little part of the perch but deliberately left it in, I think sometimes we tend to make the image too neat and tidy.

Beautiful shot...sharpness, HA, perch, BG, exp...very well done. good call on going high on iso to get to f/7.1

I wouldn't crop from the left as it is important to have the point where the branch forks.

Thats one colourful bird, and you have captured a great pose. Overall sharp, and I do like the lichen on the perch. Great BG too.

Thanks for the extra detail Jonathan, I'm increasingly a fan of using flash to boost images with the typical light in our part of the world.

Great sharp detail and IQ. Like the soft light. Subject is well exposed with good natural colours against a killer bg. Well done !
