"June Gloom" again today, so since I am housebound I reached back one month and came up with this willet photo. I post it to ask this question: Should this be left as is or should I attempt "fixing" it, adding a tip to the far wing? What do you think of that practice generally? The image is cropped and sharpened and some Recovery in LR used on the hot whites on the far wing.

    Thanks,
    Wendell

This is the classic Willet pose Wendell. Well done for capturing it, because as you know it doesn't last too long. You ask a good question and the answer is very much personal preference. If I had an image I was very pleased with but one of the wingtips were clipped, and I was considering putting it up on a wall, I would consider adding wingtips if possible. Two issues with this image other than the wingtip is the look-away head angle and the relatively high camera angle. I would still practise with the image and the wingtips though.

Hi Wendell, it certainly wouldn't hurt to have a go at a wing repair for this one, but as John says it depends on what you want to do with it. If you have plenty of canvas to clone in and have a wingtip from another image it would be a good exercise to give it a try.
