I am trying to learn how to use Lightroom and PS5. So many tutorials and I'm following a book that walks through the steps. This male house finch was very curious about my camera.

Hi Nancy- you have a very sharp image of a House Finch here. I like the inquisitive look. It's too bad the leaf hides the tail of the bird. Not much you can do about that. I might take a little off the right and go for a bit more of a vertical crop. The use of flash is hard to detect here, which is good. I'm surprised the flash didn't fill in under the tail a bit more. It looks like you are on the right track with your processing.

Thanks John. I think you have a great idea with a further crop. I wish I had gotten the tail too. Thanks for looking and the suggestions.

Nancy, nice and sharp with good color rendition. I like the pose and eye contact. As John mentions, the tail would be good to have but it's something to remember for next time. Very good job with the flash, it looks just right to me. I think John's crop suggestion is good also.

    Keep them coming!

Nancy what was flash setting, light looks good, love the pose. Vertical crop could work, maybe repost with options. Great job with a beautiful species.

Thank you so much Jeff. I am ashamed to tell you I didn't remember using a flash. I don't think that info is listed anywhere on my image file. I do think I took this while using a chair blind in my back yard. I've been trying to sneak up on the Hooded Orioles, but they see me even in the blind.

I will try to repost the shot. I wasn't sure I could post a fix. Thanks for the encouragement.

Here is a different crop. Does this work better? Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi Nancy, I think the first tighter crop works very well. The second one is a little too tight in the LLC for me.

Another vote for the first crop. Nice job reposting and getting other perspectives - well done.
