The ocean is about 9 miles from the local lake, and there are usually a few gulls hanging out there. Liked the even light across the wing span on this. CS5, blur on BG, touched up a few spots on wings, a bit of saturation on legs, bill, and eyes, sharpening.

Brendon, good subject placement(a tad above can help IMO) and wing position. Not a fan of the light direction but you gotta capture the action where it happens.

I think you stopped down a bit too much. Wider aperture like f/7.1 would have given you that extra SS to freeze the wing tips and also much better BG. I am seeing some PP artifacts near the primary tips.

Thanks, Kaustubh, I agree, should have gone down to f7 or so, and that bill shadow is not looking so great. When I grow up, I will be able to get good BG's in camera!

Ok, now I see what you mean about the wing tips, Kaustubh.

Great exposure on the white feathers. Agree with Kaustubh about DOF . I am not sure about the direction of bird's gaze.
I like his dangling feet and knobby knees.
Did you have to work on wingtips? I, too, see artifacts.TFS

Ok, now, I guess I'm mistaken, I think you guys are right, let me take this back into my work shop and see if I can clean this up.

Ok, that was pretty bad! I did not clean-up the tips after blurring the BG.
I cleaned up the artifacts around the primary tips and sharpened them a little, so hopefully this looks better.

Good clean-up on the repost, but now you see how opening up here would have helped with the BG from the get-go and given you less to do in post. I also agree with the rest of KD's critique.

Lots of awesome details in the wings!!

Nice wing spread, some fine detail there. The repost is a definite improvement. Good points by Kaustubh.

Nice exp on the bird and good exp...Wing tips mentioned, repost is better but still can see some thing not right...Go back to the master file and start again, it looks like its worth the effort...TFS Brendan

    Thanks you guys.
Dumay, your right, that was a quick fix, need to start over on original file.
Not the greatest image but worth keeping.
