    Default A Mombo Male Lion

    Attached Images Attached Images

Canon 50D, Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS, handheld. S/speed 1/400 at f/7.1. Cropped from 15 to 13mpixels. Processed in ACR 6 and CS5. One male of the pair known as the Western Boys, taken at Mombo a couple of years ago. This male was about to cross the water and as I was not able to get ahead of him, I decided to adopt a wider approach with the shot.
    All C and C welcome

I like this a lot...Love the space to incl surroundings. As Marc says it tells a story... I see that termite mound with the big tree in the BG. Is that the same spot where you took those Ellie,s that you posted aprox 2 months back?

thanks Marc and Dumay for commenting. Dumay, this one just a seasonal floodplain near Mombo camp, the other with the eles was the actual Savuti channel itself...with the amount of water around in northern Botswana, we quite often get to witness wildlife in water. This male was looking for the females of the pride and in determined mood.

Grant - I too like this habitat shot. Interesting to see as I was on Chief's before the floods came. Nice light and color too.

Lovely scene and well captured, it may well just be my screen but it looks like you could possibly tone down the highlights on his face just a tad?

Hi Grant... great capture of an amazing animal in it's environment. If mine, I might crop some along the top and eliminate more of the blue sky.
