    Common bird, but usually frisky and fidgety mood, difficult to capture.
    Canon EOS 550D, 100-400mm IS USM.
    Tv mode,F5.6,1,/2500,ISO:1000,Spot metering, White balance: Auto. Hand held.
    Exposure bias: +0.3 stop.

    The little birds are the hardest... Nice image! Love the flowered branch he is perched on.

    Nice HA and detail on the bird, I find the flowered perch to be over powering bird and I also feel the OOF buds under the bird to be a distraction these two elements for me draw to much attention from the subject and makes the image not as successful as it could be.

    The environment that is natural to a bird is an important part of the image. I think this photo succeeds because of the setting.

    Interesting that you were in TV mode. I like the BG and the bird's position in the frame.I find the OOF flower very distracting.

    Nice bird and a good BG to go with it. Good exposure for the harsh light. I too find the red flowers a bit dominant, and the OOF cluster unfortunate. I would also have pointed the lens down more - this would help with two things: reduce the execive room above and more room below the lowest branch.

    P.S. Looks like you had enough SS to lower the ISO, this would help limit noise issues.

    Nice pose on the bird and a great perch. i would have lowered the lens a bit and used flash to balance the harsh light.
