Greater Striped Swallows , Pilanesberg National Park , Mankwe Hide.
This pair was very busy with nest building. They collect mud in their beaks to build the mud nests under rock overhangs and under structures. The nest has a tubular entrance.
Shot from a hide ,heavily overcast conditions.

Hi Arno, comp works well, and I like the similar HA's looking along the line of the perch. The overcast conditions has helped with the exposure, and you have captured a good view of their beaks full of mud.

Very nice Arno. I like the comp, HA etc. Fill flash worked well and nicely presented. TFS

Love the BG from this perch (As long as you get the right angle, which you got) Nice behavior shot. Nice one Elmar

Great behaviour and good job in getting the two in the frame with nice eye contact. Good flash work which really saved this image. Would like to see some more room left and top for the bird on the left.

Very good head angles on both, pleasing background, and love that mud, Arno. I too would like to see some more room at the left and top and less at the bottom.

Sweet capture of the both Arno. I like the mud in both of their beaks and good detail in the perch. Nice BGD colors too. I like it as presented, but more room left and top, maybe less on bottom may be a good suggestion.

Arno, this perch always delivers :-) excellent head turns by both and what a sweet BG. well done.

Some more DOF by going to f/9 and increasing the ISO might have been better. Its always tricky with pairs. I agree with the crop suggestions by others.

I have re-composed the image ,with more space on left and top and less at bottom , as suggested by you ,Mark,Herb and Kaustubh.
I agree that it looks much better.
    What do you think?

Yes, repost is better. much better balance IMO. You've probably also done some extra selective sharpening. It has worked.

Yes, the repost is the one. This is an excellent image that tells a compelling story about the way these birds build their nests. A good nature lesson aided by a good image. Thanks for the learning experience and for sharing.

The repost is a huge improvement !! Good use of DOF to get both in focus !
