Hi Carel, wonderful composition and colors. I like the symmetric position of the moths and the details and sharpness on them. The flowers seem a little oversharpened. I'm not sure whether it is because of the stem being removed, but the flowers now seem to be floating in thin air, which looks a bit odd to me. I might put it back in.

Good for you to catch two together and in such a symmetrical arrangement. very well done.

Like Jerry, I miss the stem. Too bad we cannot yet crop as a diamond shape in this instance to eliminate the corners and then I don't think the stem would matter.

    Good choice for dof.

An excellent image and well worth the effort.

This very cool symetrical and colorful composition, Carel. Very interesting looking moths, and love the detail and intense color contrast in this one. I would also be interested in seeing a version with stem, but it kind of looks cool suspended like that. Awesome capture, and very nicely done!

    With stem
I had him taken off because he disturbed the symmetry

Hi Carel, the original looks much more natural. I think that the symmetry of the moths is powerful enough not to be bothered by the stem. You could consider moving the stem to the center of the frame, where it will not disturb the symmetry. Should not pose to much of a problem with this great BG!

Hi Carel. Another beauty! As noted above, the symmetry really makes the image - I assume the moths were copulating? I prefer the repost with the stem included - the stem does not bother me at all. The colors of the moths and flowers are very nice, the clean background is a plus, and you did a good job getting the most important parts within your DOF. Very well done.
