    Default Tern

    1/1600"
    F6.3
    Manual
    ISO 400
    MKIII
    Hand Held

I liked this image because the background was not the usual blue sky and I also liked the grasses below.

I like the comp of this Noelle. The grasses on the bottom are fine with me. Some may not like the wing BGD in the open beak, but it looks fine with me. Nice catchlight in the eye.

The image and composition rock, Noelle! Great IF capture, like the open beak pose, detail, and grasses are nice touch. Nice work!

You are right about the grasses, Noelle, and if anything I wish you had even more canvas below. Beautiful tones throughou. Nice open bill pose, and you got a nice catchlight to make the eye visible against the very dark cap. HA could be a tad better. The image, as posted, is showing sharpening halos around the contour of the tern - and along the top of its' head. Overall well done!

    Thanks Brendan, Herb and Daniel.

I do have plenty of room with grasses below, I will make a re-post and see if the new one works. I will look out for the sharpening halos as well.

The BG and grasses make this one for me but open bill and wing position are also big pluses.
    Very nicely done!

Another vote for more grass below.
    Looking forward to the repost!

Oh yes, the extra grasses add so much more to the image...killer repost! I wouldn't mid seeing the tern a bit more to the right, but this is super nice.

I will take a foliage BG to a sky BG any day. Good flying posture, sharp, and your repost has worked out so much better.
