Early morning, I wanted to include the last piece of dune fence on the left and some of the sand with the ripples at the bottom. I liked the alert pose and the dune fence showed the environment to me.

Sharp with nice alert pose. A bit on the bright side and I am not sure about the posts. I like the ripples in the FG.

Lovely image Denise. I really like the colours and nice soft light.

The sand ripples are excellent. Good for you.

Denise: Lovely pose and nice detail on the plover. I really like the ripples in the sand in front of the bird, but my eye keeps going to the OOF posts in the background. I know you wanted the environment in the shot, but to me it's distracting and constantly drawing my eye away.

Linda, To each his/her own. I like the dune fence and it's the reason I took the shot.

Sweet shot, Denise. Soft morning light is lovely. I'm of two minds about the fence; but because it takes this beyond the realm of just-another-plover shot, I can see why you wanted to keep it in. The ripples, as noted above, add to the beauty of the image.

    Denise,
    Interesting composition.
The subject is sharp and looks perfectly exposed on my monitor.
I really like the angle of the sand ripples.

As far as the posts go, I like the idea. I feel if the composition was such that the Plover didn't look like it was sitting on a post it would be a stronger image.

So good to see you posting again. The brightness looks fine to me, and just love the soft light and duo tone to this image. The ripples do add a lot to the FG, and I dont mind the fence posts. If you gave this a slight CCW rotation to level the sand, would it tilt the posts too much?

    Looks like a familiar setting

Very nice image, and I like the fence as it is part of the natural surroundings. If he had only come to the top of the crest to get the feet !!

Lovely shot, Denise. The colors and light are gorgeous. I like the patterns created by the fence and the ripples.

    Thanks all for the feedback.
Neil, I know we all wanted to see some feet that day!
Stuart, It was a hill so maybe a rotation would make the bird look crooked??
Dumay, I will clean up the URC and maybe the slight orange (oof flag) on the left.

They sure are cute!! So hard to get them to stand still.... you have to assume when they will stop moving

I like this image Denise, I also like the the fence line alot!! I think if you leveled the sand it would help.

Thanks Noelle How have you guys been. Is the little one still shooting? Let me know the next time you and Chad head out to Nickerson, I'll try to meet up with you. The sand hill was sloped. I'm thinking if I rotate this the bird will be crooked.

I like this Denise. The fence posts on a beach are about as natural as the sand on our coast.

    Nobody wants a crooked bird

We are fine, thanks for asking! Yes, Matthew still comes out with us shooting and he loves it. Not sure when I or we will get to Nickersons because I am heading to Chad's in Michigan with the boys soon and then we are all heading to the Keys for some fun.

I was at Nickersons a few weeks ago and I had hoped to see you there.

Hi Denise, I like your "alert pose," and I gotta like the ripples. You made good use of that sweet early morning light; the plover is nearly perfectly exposed. I'm trying to "see" the shot without the posts and am not sure that it'd be a better image without them. The plover sitting on one of the posts is a bit of a distraction, though. I see pinkish light seeping in from the left and whitish light in the northeast corner; why not smooth that out? Oh, and by the way, how is it that the BG is nearly the same color as the sand? What are we looking at there?

    Craig,
    Thanks for the kind words.
See pane #16 for the BG removal info. ( and to be honest- I didn't see them before posting LOL)
The back ground is more sand and another dune fence that cuts across the front of the colony. If you look very, very closely you can see some of the fencing. That is why I shot this at f/5.6.
