This photo was also taken in the parking lot at my work in Kanata, Ontario. The Killdeer was nesting there so I could not get to close.

Very nice shot, perhaps just a tad too bright or maybe a little more contrast would give it a bit more pop.

Agree about the brightness and/or contrast. You have him well placed in the frame and the red eyering just pops. Do you have a bit more room on the bottom? His feet are awfully close to the edge. Mid tone feathers are nicely exposed.

Thanks for the comment folks. I will darken it abit and see if I can get more room at the bottom without the curb from the parking lot showing.

Jeff, I've had no luck getting close to these guys. I agree that you need a bit more room on the bottom and the mixed light was not ideal. Nice pose and inclusion of the environment.

Nice habitat shot and I like the pose.

More room at bottom has been mentioned and a slight turn clockwise putting Killdeer broadside to sun would have been nice as well.

What an excellent opportunity to get close to a Killdeer.

Jeff, And to think you were hiding all that room on the bottom Nice repost, I would like to see some of the whites toned down around the neck and head and maybe some of the rocks could use some toning down. Not for you to repost but for your files. It's a sweet image and worth the trouble IMO.
