    Thanks for your comments guys! This is one of the best examples I have of getting the most from a shallow depth of field. Since the egret's head is pulled back a bit and the camera caught focus in that plane, the bonus was having almost all of the important detail areas captured in focus. I just love the snowies...

    You nailed the point of focus and techs are solid - love the fine detail. Which is critical in bird photography. Wide open with a fast shutter often makes for a strong image.

    Totally sweet Kerry! The plumage detail is fantastic. I love the shadow cast by the leading edge feathers on the underside of the wing. The only thing I would change is the position of the bird in the frame. Because it's looking to the left of the frame and apparently banking that way, I would try to give more room that side and less on the other. The distance from the wingtips to the edge of the frame is the key I think.

    Love it. Perfect example of why I like wildlife shots in sunlight!!! When composed, exposed, and processed perfectly they really POP. Love it.

    Kerry, this might be a touch tight on the wingtips, but that is a minor nit. I would take this shot every day and be quite proud of it!
