One of my favorite bird species to photograph. Great clarity here with an
interesting subject for the bird's mate most likely. The adult Least Terns typically
will dive in to feed their young and fly off quickly perhaps to get the next fish
or call minimal attention to the progeny. In the image, the light appears to have
been strong but very well controlled. Massachusetts offers the advantage of
the sun remaining relatively low on the horizon even at the summer solstice.
The f/11 selection dramatically defines the sand linearly on the beach which
I think is somewhat of a distraction though consider this an enviable shot.

Nice one Mike. Nailed the exposure, and the low angle is as I like it I like the wing and tail feathers flowing nicely towards the right. Good catch too, and the flying grains of sand from the walking motion are nice touches.

This is lovely. I like how the BG and the sand blend into one another. The exposure is bang on and I love the raised foot. The fish is exceptionally well defined and sharp as well. I like the curve formed by the back and tail feathers. No nits from me,

This is one of the best shots I have seen of a least tern so far, Mike! Nice low angle, wonderful detail, great whites, color, and fish in mouth puts it over the top. I kind of like the narrow strip of in focus sand along its path. I might be tempted to take just a bit off bottom, as the OOF FG does not really add much to rest of image. Very nicely done!

One heck of a shot, Mike. this is flawless IMO. walking pose that we dont see often with terns, spot-on exposure, perfect HA, eye of the prey visible, ultra-low shooting angle, excellent subject placement, squeaky clean BG-FG....ticks all the boxes.
