A bonnie wee squirrel, but this one looks more like a tourist, to me!
If he was a true "Scot", I think he would be one of the "wee red fellas". Still, he's "bright eyed" and presumably "bushy-tailed"!
I think it would be nice to see more of the body in a vertical crop if you have it - I'd be tempted to try and get the eye away from the centre line.
Och aye!
If a foreigner, then there are a lot of them, and at the Royal Botanical garden, no less. How dare they! I do have some full body shots but they are a bit softer than this one. I will post the orig of this one which sets the head off center just to see what you think.
oops, wrong one, I'll try again
Hazel - I prefer the comp of the repost. Nice colors, pose and detail. I think it could use another round of sharpening on the head.

Hi Hazel, as Gerald said, these are in fact an import and have taken over much of the UK to the point where they are almost have the classification of 'vermin'! Again, it's the 'Reds' you want to photograph if you can, they are far more photographic, especially when they have their ear tuffs too, but as a visitor you have to get what & when you can.
Personally I prefer the original post, but would prefer more of the body, giving a 'portrait'format and have about have the space at the foot, ie face to edge of image. But perhaps a square format might offer another alternative? You can afford to lighten it to allow some more detail through, plus I might suggest adding a bit more sharpening just to the head as really the eye should be nice & crisp, however this might be due to slight camera shake & crop? Having the DOF has give a good defused BG, but might have gone to either f/4 for a better shutter speed or f/5.6 for a bit more DOF but SS would suffer.
