Beautiful bird, BG and nice turned head pose you captured, Gary. Nice detail, nesting material in mouth adds interest, and great job on the blacks, liked how you framed it. Well done!

Great head turn, lovely BG. Good exposure to bring out the black detail. I've been trying to shoot these guys as well -- no shortage of subjects but I'm never there in soft enough light to get the velvety blacks that you've done here. I might be tempted to evict the oof stem on the left. Was this a large crop?

Thanks Bill, this is about 60% of the original. Not sure why the IQ is not there. I am gonna have to look at this again tonight. Did try a little different PP.

Good job on the blacks Gary, and I like the look back pose. The tuft of grass in the beak adds interest. I agree, the IQ on the head is not there, and wonder due to your slow ss, there is motion blur.

Looks like a damsel fly in the mouth to me

Nice turn back on this one, good environment as well, love it when they perch on the stick like this.

    Agree with above C&C
