A lone Namibian Oryx moving along the barren flat area in the " Sperrgebiet " (Forbidden Area) in southern part of the desert near Aus. All comments appreciated.

Hi Andrew,
I like the pano crop and black and white conversion and framing. I just wish for a better head turn. I would also tone down the white on the hind quarter and might take a bit off the top. It sounds like I have a lot of issues with this pic but I really do like it! Just needs a bit of tweaking!

Andrew - great comp and I like the clean desert habitat. Looks like the light was harsh. I would try to tone down the highlights and maybe darken the whole image a little.
Andrew, I'm finding this image a little too contrasty and although I know that it adds to the desert, harsh feel of the environment I would love to see a bit more detail. I think it would have been stronger with the oryx not walking away, but I do like the composition you have used here. Great sense of the desolation of the place.
Thank you all for the really great feedback ( the more Gail the betta )! I will try answer some questions raised !
This is a wild roaming antelope and boy did I wait for him to show his head........
The light was over my left shoulder and was hour before sunset so not really 'harsh' , I have overexposed the image to create the 'high key' effect in PS as its one of my favorite
The crop, well its one of my favorite and finding the single subject in a vast space is something that I enjoy finding !!!!
Andrew - IMO the B&W is too bright, I know you were going for high-key but it doesn't have that smooth feeling, rather it looks like the highlights were blown a little (especially on the hindquarters and legs of the oryx). To me the neutral sand colors and their sort of layered effect and texture is much more pleasing. Just my thoughts.
thanks very much for your great feedback ! Harshad ,this conversion was intentional for a specific space in a modern home. It is great to get feedback from fellow photographers. It is not a conventional b&w image but we all have many alternate opinions and this is one of the reasons i enjoy BPN.
Little late to the party but not a huge fan of B & W so I rarely comment on them. But since you asked for specific feedback, I thought I'd throw my opinion in as well. Both images capture the isolation I'd expect from a place called the Forbidden Area but the two version differ on how much they show that. With the B&W, the brightness of the BG above the line going through the chest hides a lot of little details. With the color version, the subtle gradations in color and texture provide for me more of a sense of the great size and distance of this desert. Also, the slight angling away of the darker line leading to the upper right corner seems to lead the my eye as well as the oryx deeper into and further away from the viewer. Did I mention I prefer the color version ?
Both the versions have their own appeal . with the BnW , I guess the hi-key seems a bit overdone . But the image conforms to your title of 'Solitude ' !!
