This image taken at Chaplin, Saskatchewan on Chaplin Lake. There were so many migrating shorebirds on this lake I had trouble focusing on one bird.
This bird below caught my eye, seemed to be in trouble, he's missing one eye.
I could not positively ID him, never having seen a Sanderling in breeding plumage.
It's a dull one. They can be brilliant red-orange. It is simply individual variation.
