I dug this old calendula photo out of my archives for this theme. I used two of my textures, two textures from Shadowhouse, and a blur overlay to soften the image. I also used channel mixer to create a slightly desaturated vignette.

This is beautiful, Christopher. I like the positioning of the flower along with the soft color and texture. Nicely done.

Christopher, this is lovely and appealing. Nice composition and subdued yellow, which is not easy to do! I might sharpen the stamens just a tad. Love the warmth and glow.

Christopher, this is one of my favorite filtered images. Wonderful mood. Love the textures and subtle coloring.......Absolutely marvelous.

I agree, Christopher, this is very, very, nicely done. I like the softness you achieved with blur overlay, and love the fading out at the edges with the desaturated vignette. If you don't mind, what were the steps in that process using the channel mixer?

Brendan, I checked the Monochrome box for the channel mixer layer and set the Red channel to 40% and the Green channel to 60%. I then painted on the layer mask for that layer with a large, soft brush to erase the B&W effect from the center, and finally set the layer opacity to 56%.

Thanks for the comments, guys! I appreciate it.

It is beautiful, Christopher! If you want to get REALLY picky, the top left corner is a tiny bit darker than the others...might lighten that up a little - wouldn't change anything else though!

I like the angle you chose for this photo--looking straight down. Nice composition positioning the center in the ROT position. Nice soft processing. My eyes are drawn to the bright petals in the upper third of the image. Perhaps this was your intention. I would prefer to be drawn to the center. Maybe if the center were just a bit brighter? Lovely work.

Thanks Jules and Anita! I took your suggestions on lightening the center and TLC corner a bit. Small changes, but I think they made it look even better. Much appreciated!
