Very pleasing portrait with good composition and nice clean BG. I like the fact that the AMOY is turned a tad toward you but my favorite detail are the feathers on the beak.

Gorgeous IQ. Exp looks spot on incl the beak. Subject stands out really nicely from the BG. Interesting to see the blotching in the eye (Pigmentation/melanism probably) You must have been close to have f10 and the shoulder was still OOF...Love your work Troy!

Troy, although parallel is good, the HA you got here is even better. Almost any time you can get the head turned a couple of degrees toward you then you've hit HA perfection IMO

    Very nice portrait!

Nice one, Troy. I like the preening residue on the bill. Pleasing comp, and the exposure looks perfect. These birds often seem to have blemishes in their irises, and I might have been tempted to remove this one, although it certainly is accurate just the way it is.

Excellent exposure Troy, and just love the detail and colours on the head and beak. The feathers stuck on the beak adds a nice touch.

A very nice portrait. No nits and I like the blotchy pupil. All the oystercatchers I have seen have this, so I would leave it "au naturel"!

Troy, nice portrait indeed...HA, blacks, reds....everything looks good from here. When f/10 doesn't give you enough DOF, that means you did really well in getting close :-)

nicer shot Troy, if this were mine I would go back a bit for more dof or wait until the OC stretches its neck so I can crop out the OOF shoulder. great work
