    Chad, only one word "BEAUTIFUL".
I really love the sharpness and detail to feather level.

What a strange image. Not seeing the eye makes you think first if it is a bird or some other creature:-). I love it. Do you have a series of the movement? What lens are you using in your kayak?

Chad, this pose shows off the colours of the heron nicely, together how they can stretch their necks so far. If you have the whole series, I would like to see the frame with the fish being hauled out the water.

A very nice behavioural shot! Love all the green, the cool pose and action. I am not too crazy about the BG above the branch, maybe darkening the lighter parts of cloning them out all together (if this fits your personal ethics of course) would make a great shot even better.

Very cool to see this. I like the purple on the neck...Looks very similar to our species except for the purple...frame rate on the 1D's really make the difference for images like these.

Thanks for posting the kayak and another photo of the series. Looks like you are shooting with the 500mm. Have you tried mounting a tripod. Isn't it easier? Do you have to modify your kayak for that.

    Cheers,

    Lorant

Lorant, Yes sorry it is the 500mm, I normally shoot without the hood on when in the kayak... I shoot hand held almost all the time, even on land. I find a tripod restricting and I miss shots because of that. I do rest my camera/lens on things whenever I can, when in my kayak I can normally shoot static subjects such as this greenie while resting the lens on my knee.

    Thanks again Everyone!

These are awesome and unique shots, Chad! Real nice behavior study, could see these being published in some type of nature magazine. Hope you post the whole series. I can see how the Kayak would provide you with a lot more unique photo ops, and tons of fun.
    Nice work!

What a fantastic shot, Chad! I can only echo the others here when I say what a wonderful behavior capture, and such a unique view. I love the next frame in the series just as much.

Chad, both are nice...but I prefer the second one more. I liked the shooting angle and the details. Exposure and comp. look very good as well.
